Hand-Tied Hair Extensions

Natural movement. Zero damage. Lasting results. Serving Owasso and the greater Tulsa metro.

The Method

What Are Hand-Tied Extensions?

Hand-tied hair extensions use hand-sewn wefts of premium human hair attached to tiny silicone-lined beads placed close to your scalp. Unlike tape-in or fusion methods, there is no heat, no glue, and no adhesive involved — making hand-tied wefts one of the gentlest, most natural-looking extension methods available today.

The wefts lie completely flat against your head, hidden beneath your natural hair. They move with you, style like your own hair, and hold up through normal daily activity — including workouts, swimming, and Oklahoma summers — without slipping, loosening, or damaging your natural hair.

At The Extensionist, every hand-tied installation is performed by a trained extension specialist. We do this every day. The method, the color matching, the row placement — it's all precise, and it shows in the result.

Why Hand-Tied

The Benefits of the Weft Method

No Heat, No Glue

Hand-tied wefts use no adhesive, bonding agents, or heat tools during installation. Your natural hair is never exposed to the damage that fusion or tape methods carry.

Natural Movement

Because the wefts lie flat and are sewn rather than bonded, they move exactly like your natural hair — not stiff, not rigid. Clients consistently say no one can tell they have extensions.

Long-Lasting Results

The weft hair lasts 12–18 months with proper care. With move-up appointments every 6–8 weeks, you're investing in a look that stays consistent for over a year.

The Process

From Consultation to Move-Up

01

Consultation

Every new extension client begins with a thorough in-person consultation. We assess your natural hair — texture, density, scalp health, and color — and discuss your length, volume, and lifestyle goals. No commitment required.

02

Color Matching

We match your weft hair to your natural color in person, in natural light. If you have highlights or balayage, we match the blend. We never guess on color from a photo.

03

Installation

We section your hair and install silicone-lined beads near the root, then hand-sew wefts of extension hair onto the beaded rows. The result lies completely flat, is fully hidden under your natural hair, and moves naturally.

04

Move-Up Maintenance

Every 6–8 weeks, we gently remove and re-bead your rows as your natural hair grows. The weft hair itself lasts 12–18 months with proper care. Move-up appointments are 2–3 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are hand-tied hair extensions?
Hand-tied extensions use hand-sewn wefts of human hair attached to small silicone-lined beads placed close to your scalp. Unlike tape-ins or fusion bonds, there's no heat, glue, or adhesive — which makes them one of the gentlest and longest-lasting extension methods available.
Who is a good candidate for hand-tied wefts?
Hand-tied extensions work best for clients with enough natural hair to conceal the beaded rows — typically chin length or longer. They're ideal for fine, medium, or thick hair that's healthy enough to support the weight. We assess this at your consultation.
How long do hand-tied extensions last?
The weft hair itself typically lasts 12–18 months with proper care. The beaded rows require move-up appointments every 6–8 weeks as your natural hair grows.
Will hand-tied extensions damage my hair?
When installed correctly and maintained on schedule, hand-tied wefts do not damage natural hair. We never install on compromised or over-processed hair. Our consultations are specifically designed to identify any concerns before installation.
What does the maintenance schedule look like?
Move-up appointments every 6–8 weeks — we remove and re-bead the rows, clean the wefts, and reinstall. Daily maintenance is minimal: brush from ends to roots with a loop brush and avoid applying conditioner directly on the rows.
Can I color my hair while wearing hand-tied extensions?
Yes, with some care. We recommend having color done before installation so we can match wefts accurately. Toning and glossing after installation is fine. Significant color changes should be discussed with your extension artist to protect both your natural hair and the wefts.
How is the cost structured?
Investment is based on the number of rows, amount of weft hair, and your desired result. We provide a full cost breakdown at your consultation. Most clients find hand-tied wefts competitive in total cost-per-month compared to tape-ins, given how much longer the weft hair lasts.
